What is Proposition 65?
California's Proposition 65 (the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986) requires businesses to provide a clear and reasonable warning before knowingly exposing anyone in California to chemicals the State has listed as causing cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. The list includes hundreds of naturally occurring and manufactured chemicals.
Why is it on some 78 Branches products?
Some of our crystals, gemstone jewelry, pendants, and metal or ceramic pieces can contain trace amounts of listed chemicals — most commonly lead and lead compounds, and in a few textile items bisphenol A (BPA). A Proposition 65 warning is not a statement that a product is unsafe or violates any product-safety standard; it means a listed chemical may be present. We display the warning wherever it applies so you can make an informed choice.
What should I do?
The warning is informational. If you have concerns about a specific product, please contact us before purchasing. For full details about Proposition 65, the chemical list, and typical exposure levels, visit the State's official site: www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.
